From 1999 to 2003, the volumes of the consumption of petroleum have grown up respectively from 16.6% to 22.7% with gas having grown up respectively from 2.1% to 2.8%. China has become the second biggest petroleum consumption country in the world .With the economic development of China, the petroleum industry has stepped into a new stage.

The Status Quo of Petroleum Industry

China has a petroleum production capability of 300mt, the second biggest one in the world, with more than 20 bases in Daqing, Shengli, Xinjiang, Dagang, Sichuan, North China, Yumen, Bohai and Nanhai, etc, as well as the big stated owned enterprises like Sino PEC, Sino Petrochemical and Sino Ocean Petroleum etc. Up to 2003, China has had petroleum pipelines more than 16,800 Km, petroleum products pipelines more than 2,700km, and gas pipelines more than 20,000km.

With the guidance of governmental policies, China’s petroleum industry has made a great progress with many main projects established.

Several critical projects like the establishment of Zhongwu Line, Shanjing Line, Joint-exposure of East China Ocean Gas and Fujian LNG, etc. have been set up.

The Prospect ofCorrosion Protection of Petrochemical in China

Currently, the corrosion protection of petrochemical concentrates on the pipes, tanks and channels. Especially, the corrosion in the ocean petroleum stations, the corrosion caused by the petroleum with water and high sulfur in the older oil field, the corrosion in the gas pipe, etc. have to be resolved at present. But these problems cannot be easily and effectively resolved only depending on China’s current technologies and facilities. So, we are looking for a solution of technology and material with reasonable price and high quality to this situation.
